WHO SAYS WHAT ABOUT THE GORING?

  • This deeply civilised hotel ...with... utterly flawless service” – Square Meal, 2009

  • “Best For Service in the UK” - The Condé Nast Traveler (USA) Gold List 2009 gave The Goring an impressive score of 98.2% for service – January 2009

  • “The Goring…. a hotel that makes you greedy for what's inside - a luxurious garden, a splendid lounge and terrace, an unbearably good restaurant and unswerving service.  There is a hum borne of elegance and assurance, one that comes from being four generations in the same family, from being built without frequent-flier points or the throb of a second-rate health club. But you'll have to listen for it, because, like The Goring itself, this sound is as subtle and unerring as a heartbeat.”

- ESQUIRE magazine (USA) January 2009

  • “… there are some places so fine that I tend to recommend them only to very special people - and The Goring Hotel has always been one of them...a thriving, family-run business, with the highest standards. The very best of British.”

- Matthew Norman, ES magazine, December 2008

  • “This is my perfect menu. Just the kind of food I like.”

- Elizabeth Hurley

  • “They (The Goring family) pride themselves on luxurious comfort, good food and drink and the most attentive service”.

- For the Bride

  • “The last real high class family hotel, which has always maintained the highest standards.”

- The Hon. Nicholas Soames MP

  • “The Goring restaurant is a haven of correct behaviour and proper puddings.”

- Fay Maschler

  • “Great people make great hotels and The Goring has great people in abundance. The Goring family extends well beyond George Goring and his children: staff and guests feel that they belong too. As the personal touch becomes rarer in the travel business The Goring becomes more special.”

- Loyd Grossman

  • “Truly great hotels like The Goring don’t just inherit a great reputation, they know they have to earn it every day. Staff at The Goring are always friendly, willing and efficient and whether you are there for breakfast, dinner or a business meeting the service is always superb.”

- Steve Norris

  • “The Goring is a institution, an epitome of Englishness….”

- Alastair Sawday’s Special Places to stay

  • “It is a place of graces, comforts, old-fashioned good manners and a total lack of snoot...The Goring is a beautifully crafted Terence Rattigan play compared with some restaurants’ avant-garde rant...”

- Matthew Fort, The Guardian

  • “The only reason the members of Heartaches C.C. play cricket in the summer is that it qualifies them for the Annual Christmas Lunch at The Goring”

- Sir Tim Rice

  • “It is more than the cosseting, more than the sybarism, more than the wonderful use of British produce, and their own blend of tea, it’s when I stay at The Goring I feel I’ve come home.”

Clarissa Dickson Wright

  • “Wonderful, wonderful food! And service as attentive as you could wish.”
- Edward Fox OBE

  • “From the moment I checked in at The Goring I knew I was going to be pampered. Radiating charm and tranquility, it resembles a country hotel in the midst of a bustling city. The food is scrumptious, the service caring and impeccable and humour toujours a la carte! To stay anywhere else in London is inconceivable to - it would be like snubbing a favourite nanny.”

- Christopher Plummer

  • “Definitely A-list” - Tatler

ABOUT THE GORING

Four Gorings have run The Goring since it was opened in 1910, which makes it the oldest family owned hotel in the capital. Deep in the heart of Belgravia, just next to Buckingham Palace, The Goring is within strolling distance of the Royal Parks and the best shops, theatres and galleries in town.   The Goring will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2010 and the interiors are currently being refreshed by some of the country’s finest designers.  There are 71 individually designed, classically English rooms and suites, many overlooking the garden.  The Dining Room is a haven for superbly cooked English food, using British ingredients, and the Bar has been gloriously transformed by designer Tim Gosling, in a theatrical, empire style, with gilded ceilings, swagged curtains and bespoke carpets.

Above all, The Goring reflects one family’s passion for quality – whose members have prided themselves on providing comfort, good food and drink, and the most attentive service for almost one hundred years.
