100 Years of Glorious Goring Grub We’ve been cooking British dishes at The Goring for 100 years. As it is our Centenary year we have gone into the archives and resuscitated some old favourites from eras gone by. You’ll see these in brackets.
Starter Soup of the week The Goring game terrine with pickled red cabbage and Cumberland sauce (Edwardian years) Beetroot leaf and pear salad with Highland Blue cheese and walnut dressing Deep fried whitebait with tartare sauce (Swinging Sixties)
Main Course Glazed wild mushroom and leek tart with glazed chestnuts and chestnut sauce Whole roast Newlyn Bay plaice with nut brown butter (Swinging Sixties) Steamed fillet of Cornish sea bass with baby spinach and a lemon butter sauce Poached baby Suffolk chicken with root vegetables and celery broth Breast of Sussex pheasant with braised red cabbage, caramelised apples, glazed chestnuts and chestnut sauce Steak and kidney pie (War years and rationing)
