Families at The Goring

A magical stay for miniature guests

As a family-owned hotel, The Goring is always delighted to welcome smaller guests. From spacious adjoining family suites and rooms, to cunningly distracting hotel activities and adventurous days out, we ensure that there is plenty to keep children engaged, enthralled and very happy indeed.

  • Interconnecting rooms

    Superior Family Connecting Rooms

The Goring’s reassuringly spacious and exceptionally comfortable interconnecting rooms accommodate up to two adults and three children. As universal law dictates, contented children equal relaxed parents, which is why each child is given nothing short of VIP status. From dressing up boxes, cakes and cookies (to be shared with parents at the child’s discretion) to books, bath toys, activity packs and more, you can expect a spoiling, family-friendly stay at The Goring.

  • Garden Family Suites

    A room with a view

With views looking out over The Goring’s famous English gardens, this light-filled Suite allows plenty of space for parents and children thanks to its two bedrooms, two marble bathrooms and open-plan seating area (essential for playing with the wooden London Hamley’s bus, exploring the Kids’ pack or reading the Teddy activity books provided). A luxury family haven right in the heart of London.

  • In-room amenities for children

Delighting our smallest and most discerning guests

Along with a host of accessories to make parents’ lives easier, we’re always keen to impress children. Our in-room Bedtime Story Library sends children on adventures (or preferably to sleep) while ‘For Kids’ Eyes Only’ activity packs are filled to the brim with colouring crayons, an activity book and a Goring Passport designed to keep little minds and hands busy.

Children’s activities

Dressing Up Box for tiny princesses and police officers

Wearing your own clothes is fine – but wearing a Royal Guardsman’s costume is obviously better. The Goring’s Dressing Up Box allows our smallest guests to swan about the hotel as fairy princesses, Beefeaters, police officers (we uphold any arrests placed), Harry Potter characters and more.

Family dining

The joy of well-fed children

Aware that children are amongst the world’s most fastidious and vocal critics, our children’s menus keep it classic. Favourites include spaghetti and burgers, while the siren call of freshly-baked cakes and warm scones makes Afternoon Tea unmissable. Room Service is also available for small guests not feeling inclined to socialise.

  • Our concierge

    Their wish is our command

Head Concierge, ‘Big John’, has a wealth of information and advice at his fingertips to keep children busy and entertained during your stay in London. He is constantly poised to organise exciting days out at famous sites, tickets to theatre productions and the latest events or tables in the best child-friendly restaurants.

  • London for families

    Adventures in the city

Thanks to its coveted address, The Goring is a whisper away from some of the city’s most famous and historic landmarks. Watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace (keep an eye out for the flag to see if the King and Queen are in residence), spot the pelicans over a picnic in St James’s Park or marvel at the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum. There’s always plenty to explore.

  • Babysitting services

    Trusted, professional childcare

When grown-up time calls, we are happy to arrange professional babysitting services. Just ask our Concierge for more information.

  • Barbara the Sheep

    The Goring’s legendary resident

A small toy sheep discovered in Devon by the late George Goring is now a hotel legend. Barbara the Sheep proved to be such a hit with the guests that more were ordered – and as a result, a cuddly version of the Goring’s most famous resident now greets all families on their arrival, displaying particular interest in ingratiating herself to children.

And finally… meet Teddy

The Goring’s most famous member of staff

Despite looking suspiciously like a Shetland pony, Teddy has strong ‘hotel owner’ energy. No one is quite sure what his job actually is but don’t be surprised if you bump into him during your stay. Particularly if you happen to be carrying carrots.

A favourite among the elite since its inception in 1910, this is the only hotel to have ever been granted a royal warrant by the queen, with impeccable standards felt by all who grace the halls
