Contemporary British Cuisine at The Goring

Food is a SERIOUS business at The Goring. British recipes are what we do, with British produce.

Jeremy, Derek and David tour the length and breadth of the country in a quest to hunt down the very best farms, fisheries and producers so that the Dining Room is always serving something inspiring, unique and usually completely unavailable anywhere else. We even have our own forager, Miles, who sniffs out truffles and rummages for wild herbs etc.

Executive Chef Derek Quelch joined us 10 years ago from Claridge’s, having started his career at The Savoy. His subtle interpretations of English classics and refusal to pander to those who would water down our proper British favourites (like steak and kidney pudding) have earned accolades like British Dining room of the Year.

Forgotten English dishes like Eggs Drumkilbo, once a favourite of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and Lobster Thermidor Omelette are two firm favourites. But, depending strictly on the season we serve Gulls Eggs, Cornish Sardines with Sea Sandwort, a huge amount of game, the best oysters on earth, Reg Swainbrook’s amazing Ducks, Mrs Botteralls Chickens, and on and on!!
