Five Luxury British Brands Design Christmas Trees for the Royal and Belgravia Suites at The Goring
* Fortnum & Mason
* Cole & Son
* Charbonnel et Walker
This Christmas The Goring’s five best suites will be resplendent with charming Christmas trees especially designed for them by five top British luxury brands.
The five companies - design company LINLEY, purveyors of fine food and drink Fortnum and Mason, wallpaper manufacturers Cole & Son, chocolatiers Charbonnel et Walker and family-owned jewellers, Boodles - are all members of Walpole, the voice of British luxury, of which The Goring is also a member.
What better way to end a year of national pride and patriotism than with a true show of all that is wonderful about British luxury.
LINLEY (founded 1985)
The classic LINLEY tree in the Royal Suite will be adorned with nuts, berries, winter twigs and leaves from English Trees giving it a sumptuous and very naturalistic feel. Throughout the tree, a whole array of handmade marquetry LINLEY frames will be arranged containing photographs, original LINLEY watercolours and sketches of furniture designs –original LINLEY sketches and some new designs. LINLEY tags will be attached over the tree giving a pop of colour and will also be adorned with (F&M image)berries and nuts. www.davidlinley.com
Fortnum & Mason (founded 1707)
Since 1707, Fortnum & Mason has been celebrating Christmas from the heart of the City of Westminster, providing all the good things of the season for customers near and far, from puddings and pies to cakes and Champagne, gifts and garlands. Their Christmas theme this year features Dick Whittington, a poor boy from the country who made his fortune in the City of London, becoming Lord Mayor no fewer than three times. Featuring the sumptuous reds and golds of the Lord Mayor’s State Coach, and of the uniforms of his faithful pikemen, the streets (and trees) of London really are paved with gold this Christmas. www.fortnumandmason.com
Cole & Son (founded 1875)
Cole & Son will be crafting an alternative Christmas tree using a host of modern and traditional wallpapers from current collections. The Cole & Son Christmas tree will use conventional Christmas colours of silver, gold and green, in an innovative way to create a striking wallpaper tree. www.cole-and-son.com
Charbonnel et Walker (founded 1875)
Purveyors of fine English chocolate since 1875, master chocolatiers Charbonnel et Walker have a truly traditional British Christmas theme this year which will be emulated at The Goring. The classic holly and berry design with traditional reds, greens and gold will be used across the tree, including crackers and boxes filled with the classic festive champagne truffles. www.charbonnel.co.uk
Boodles (founded 1798)
With a winter wonderland theme, the Boodles Christmas tree for The Goring will signify romance, elegance and femininity with soft pink, white and silk decorations to reflect the Boodles colours. Crystal baubles and perfect bows will hang from snow white branches and beautifully wrapped Boodles boxes will sit nestled under the tree. www.boodles.com
Each of the five companies have been allocated a Goring suite that best suits their Christmas tree.
